Leaked iPhone 6s front panel shows slot for larger front camera, Taptic Engine components

According to the latest leaked images obtained by 9to5Mac, the iPhone 6s will allegedly have a larger FaceTime camera. The current camera on the iPhone 6 has a resolution of 1.2 megapixels. With a bigger sensor, Apple could either go with a higher resolution or keep the current resolution and get better image quality from larger pixel size.

Another thing discovered from the images is the screen component that will be responsible for the haptic feedback for the new Force Touch feature on the iPhone 6s. Apple calls it the Taptic Engine on the new MacBook and it should have the same name on the iPhone, and basically cause the screen to vibrate when you Force Touch it, so it would seem like you pressed a button.

We have reported in the past on rumors of the back camera getting a resolution bump to 12 megapixel and adding support for 4K video, and the front camera getting a selfie flash, which is essentially the screen flashing white while taking a photo.

The iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus will be announced on September 9 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California.

Alleged iPhone 6s Plus box cutout leaks with a goldfish wallpaper, battery may be smaller

By now we know most everything worth knowing about the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus that are about to be unveiled on September 9th. Apple's new iOS gear will be largely similar in outer appearance to the current crop, as usual, but feature plenty of hardware upgrades on the inside, like an improved 12 MP rear camera, and a Force Touch display, which might not be called Force Touch as on the Apple Watch, but something else.

Now, a claimed iPhone 6s Plus box cutout has appeared in a publication on the prominent Wei Feng network, and it indeed features the title iPhone 6s Plus, as speculated. What else is intriguing on this picture above? Well, it depicts some sort of a goldfish wallpaper that will eventually be the default one on Apple's second phablet run, and the sources say this wallpaper will be a Motion one, or one of the new animated walls we already heard about. Moreover, the goldfish is expected to change color depending on the chassis hue you've chosen, which this time might include a Rose Gold version, so that should be interesting to verify. 

The biggest piece of rumor here, however, is not the puny goldfish, but that the insiders claim a decrease in battery capacity from the iPhone 6 Plus to the iPhone 6s Plus. Apple's new phablet, they say, will have a 2750 mAh battery, against the 2910 mAh unit of the current edition, while the iPhone 6s is expected to go from 1810 mAh to 1715 mAh. We previously saw a 1715 mAh unit, claimed to be for an upcoming iPhone, but at the time it was said that it could be for the budget iPhone 6c. 

Whether or not this claim for smaller juicers is true, and will it affect battery endurance if materialized, remains to be seen. Given that the iPhone 6s already leaked to be 2mm thicker than what we have now, it's hard to imagine Apple fitting a much smaller battery in there, compared to its predecessor. It wouldn't take long to find out, though, as the September 9th event is just around the corner, and this time will be streamed live for Windows 10 users as well.

Apple schedules iPhone 6s and 6s Plus event for September 9

Apple has started sending out press invites for its next big event. This will take place on September 9 at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California, a venue with seating capacity for around 7,000 people, and one that the Cupertino company hasn't used before.

This means we may witness one of Apple's biggest launch events in its history. It's obviously expected to announce the new iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, These have been said to sportForce Touch tech inside their touchscreens, a higher-res camera than their predecessors, a new chipset, and more RAM. As always with "s" releases, expect the exterior to remain unchanged.

Pre-orders for the new smartphones will start on September 11, two days after their unveiling, while sales should begin a week later than that, on September 18, for the first wave of markets. A second wave of availability should hit on September 25. All of this information has been leaked numerous times already, along with a possible September 8 or 9 announcement date. So now that this has been confirmed, there's no point in doubting the rest of the rumored timeline.

There could be other new stuff in store for us too. A more affordable iPhone 6c has been in and out of the rumors for many months now, so it's still unclear whether it will ever become reality. On the other hand, Apple might also unveil new iPads, perhaps even the much-rumored iPad Pro. A revised Apple TV may be in the works too, though there's no telling if it's going to be ready in time for this event.

iPhone 6s pre-orders to start on September 11, new leak reveals

We are now fast approaching the official unveiling for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. Apple has held such events at the beginning of September for the past few years, and that month is almost upon us.

Thus, more and more leaks nowadays focus on when you'll be able to buy the two new devices. Today we get a leaked image purported to have originated at a carrier in France.

This company is allegedly informing its employees that pre-orders for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus are due to start on September 11. That's a Friday, which also fits with Apple's actions in the past. If the company sticks to its traditional schedules, we should see the announcement that Tuesday or Wednesday, on September 8 or 9.

On the other hand, actual availability of the new smartphones in the countries that will be part of the first wave could happen on September 18, again based on what Apple's previously done with such launches.

These dates have also been rumored quite a bit in the past few weeks, so at this point we assume the only thing left to happen is for Apple to send the media invites for its event.

The new iPhones have been said to come with 12 MP cameras, a new A9 SoC, 2GB of RAM, and touchscreens with support for "Force Touch". Otherwise, they should be pretty much identical to their predecessors from last year.
