Case settled - Xiaomi will apparently unveil the next iteration of its MIUI Android skin on August 13. MIUI 7 has been widely rumored to debut either tomorrow or on August 16, but it seems that the truth lies somewhere in the middle. This was confirmed by the company in a special post on Weibo, China's microblogging website.
MIUI 7 will succeed MIUI 6 and will most probably run on top of Android 5.1, which has been around for quite some time now. Most certainly, it will first land on Xiaomi's higher-end phones from the ilk of the Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi Note, and Mi Note Pro.
When it comes to the novel features that will arrive with MIUI 7, our guess is as good as yours. We are certain that the fundamental staples of Xiaomi's Android skin will remain unchanged - an app drawer-less interface that provides a thorough UI overhaul over stock Android and adds a whole bunch of mostly useful software features on board.
Apart from MIUI 7, Xiaomi is also expected to unveil something on August 16, its birthday. Whether it will be a new device or some sweet promotion remains to be seen.
