Earlier this month, we told you that Meizu would be skipping the Meizu MX5 Pro. That tip came from a Meizu executive, who said that the manufacturer would be replacing the phone with a handset from a new series. Whether or not this is that handset, images have leaked today of a new model called the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus. Speculation has this handset powered by the Samsung Exynos 7420, the chipset providing the horsepower for the Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Galaxy Note5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge+. However, the Snapdragon 820 is also linked to this model via another rumor. Either way, this phone is probably going to be quite zippy.
Another rumor has the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus being a multi-tasking monster with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM inside. Imaging wise, we expect to see a 20.7MP rear-facing camera handling photography chores for the phone.
While the Meizu MX5 Pro Plus apparently made a trip through the AnTuTu benchmark site, the results have been blurred out. The model number also can't be found, which could have helped us check out the specs on the phone. For now, we recommend taking this story with a grain of salt until Meizu announces what could be its new top-shelf handset.
We have images from Chinese tipster @KJuma, allegedly showing off the MX5 Pro Plus. Check them out by clicking on the slideshow located south of this paragraph.
