Treyarch's "Call of Duty: Black Ops" has earned 360 million dollars within the first 24 hours of its release in the US and the UK. Activision Internal has called it "the biggest entertainment launch in history" and has touted it to be even more successful than "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2", which only managed to earn about 310 million dollars when it was released last year.
How did they come up with this? The figures are based on unaudited accounts and some internal calculations. But they are really upbeat about these figures. "There has never been another entertainment franchise that has set opening day records for two consecutive years and we are on track to outperform last year's five-day global sales record of 550 million dollars," says a company representative.
